It's which kind of student thrives here. The answer is all three of these, in the same hallways. - The student headed for a competitive university. Honors sequences, Advanced Placement, and college credit earned in high school through Ohio's College Credit Plus program. - The strong student who isn't sure yet. A full college-preparatory core with tutoring available from day one, and college counseling that starts well before senior year. - The student who learns differently. No. Hoban is a Catholic school in the Holy Cross tradition, and students of other faiths and no particular faith enroll every year. Theology coursework, Catholic liturgy and Christian service are required for everyone; but a particular religious background is not required for admission. Does Hoban offer a balanced experience? Yes. Hoban prides itself on offering a breadth and depth of opportunities for students. From arts and athletics to robotics to campus ministry and service, there's a place for every student to explore something new or go deeper in what they love. Is the East Akron neighborhood safe? Hoban was built in East Akron in 1953 to educate the children of working families in that part of the city, and it has stayed. The 75-acre campus has dedicated security staff, training, and equipment. The most useful thing a family can do is walk it on an ordinary school day and judge for themselves. What if my student needs academic support? The Student Success Center provides tutoring to all students. Students with documented needs can be served through individualized learning plans, and Holy Cross Pathways supports students who require a modified curriculum. How much does Hoban cost, and is aid available? A Catholic education is more accessible than ever.
